The first encounter with the BORG WAS in TNG when Jean-Luc Piccard was captured and assimilated resulting in the creation of Lucutis.

actually the first encounter with the borg WAS in TNG, although it was when Q sent the enterprise into the delta quadrant

Shamefully....I admit.....I watched, too.

I will, however, PROUDLY say that when 7 of 9 first became less Borg and more human, those kazoongas of hers did make quite an impression upon me!
