Pale Male

Post by DoggyDelicious »

I heard about this story and just thought it was a nice Christmassy type story....... eventhough it is a little sad :(

Basically there is a building in New York, facing Central Park. For years now children and enthusiasts have come from all over the State to catch a glimpse of the Hawk and his hatchlings that have made a nest on the front of the building. This type of Hawk is extremely rare, and over the last 12 years since the Hawk first appeared, the number of Hawks has increased thanks to the hawk they call "Pale male".
This dude has attracted many female Hawks, who come from far away to get a piece of the airbourne studmuffin. And over the years many baby hawks have been born and raised on this famous site.

It has now become a familiar sight for joggers in Central park to look up and see a Hawk or two swooping overhead. Doesn't sound like much to many, but for those who inhabit the built up urban Metropolis of Manhattan, a glimpse of any from of wildlife is a rare and cherished thing indeed.

The building is actually an apartment complex for the wealthy and famous, Woody Allen lives there, as well as other famous people I've never heard of, so I won't mention them.
So obviously these wealthy fucks don't appreciate children gathering outside their building every year and gazing up in the direction of their windows.

I suppose the concept of blinds and curtains is something they failed to grasp. So a ridiculous excuse was made that the Hawk's nest was rotting the concrete in the building, or some crap........ and the nest was gutted and cleaned out..... the poor Hawk had no idea what to do. The metal grate that made this such an attractive home for the Pale Male was removed, and so the nest is no longer there. The poor Hawk still tries to rebuild his home, gathering branches and twigs, but to no avail.

Not only that, but rats and pigeons have been poisened, so that in turn the Hawk............ who feeds on these vermin, will also become poisoned.
Why anybody would want to get rid of such a majestic creature that actually hunts and eats rats, and their flying cousins, pigeons, is beyond me.

So anyway, it seems sad to me, that a bunch of rich assholes who find a few schoolkids plotted outside their building every now and then took it upon themselves to rid the city of one of its unknown treasures. Stories like that of the Pale Male Hawk give cities character, and anybody whos ever visited the concrete jungle of New York will know that the inhabitants like the Pale Male should be protected at all costs.

Here are some pics.......... don't know why I got all sentimental........ must be Christmas

Yeah, I saw this on the news. Mary Tyler Moore (a resident in the apt. building) was voicing her disapproval with the hawk's "eviction".

We say we love all creatures, then we force them out.

that is sad. i have some relations in NYC. i'll ask them how they stand on this issue. it will be a sort of litmus test.

Mary Tyler Moore played Dick Van Dyke's wife in the Dick Van Dyke show and later upstaged him with her own sitcom. Don't you people watch old reruns from the 70's? She always seems so cute but proper and here is a quote from her on an interview show that I caught and never forgot:

"I once knew a man who was going into show biz and his agent said your name will hold you back. His name was 'Penis Von Lesbian' how bout if we change it to "Dick Van Dyke". or someat like that.

Doggie: No wonder that exercise video was a sell out, it was the young guys buying it..ha ha aha

I can still picture her tossing her Monica into the air!

I also read that the bird has a wing span of over 4 feet?!?! On second thought, I don't think I'd enjoy having something with that magnitude swooping down anywhere around me! Didn't anyone see The Birds???

A 4-foot wingspan isn't really that large when you think about it....... and they really don't swoop down anywhere near people, they are scared of all the traffic and crowds. They stay up in the air and only really do their hunting in wide open spaces.

As for Jane Fonda  ......... had that shit on Betamax back in the day, good lord it was like 2 hours of seedy build-up to a porn scene Image
