It was about 5 in the morning and I was relaxing staring into space as you do at 5 am..........
Suddenly there was this loud BEEP
....... it came from somewhere in my room!!!!
The TV was unplugged..... the computer switched off......... stereo off......... phone upstairs
It must have been a ghost

I had a similar experience: We'd hear a chirping noise from time to time, sounded a lot like a bird. But so close, as if it were in the living room. We'd look and look then it would stop. It seemed to happen in the early morning. I began to suspect the sunrise stirred it. Then it started happening in the bedroom at odd times. Finally we realized it was the smoke detector. But what set it off?WAs it time for a new battery. Yes, that worked.
While listening to a call in radio program I heard the same noise in the background from a caller. The host said "damn, don't you know to change the battery in your smoke detector?" Caller "Oh is that what it is. I've been hearing that noise for a year now and never knew what it was."
So maybe you have that same problem.
Earth is the insane asylum for the universe.

I know.
I always take mine down when I'm using my indoor grill. Sometimes when I'm using the broiler too.
