I must say... phpbb2 has WAY better hacks than vbulletin. Whoever does that stuff for this site has really done a great job.

..not to mention its free :D. And Im in the process of upgrading each hack version, adding some "other" stuff. But shhh

I paid for 1 year of vbulletin to try it out... I have mad many sites with phpbb2 and for low-medium traffic sites I would say that phpbb is better because you can add on more features to make it more enjoyable or fun for the members. I think the only time I would use vbulletin is is I had a site with very heavy traffic (100gigs/mo or more) I think they are fast under heavy volume.

I suppose by this time I could had made a new thread about the differences instead of blabing about it here.

Hmm without some optimizations VB is resource heavy. Dunno, I've never liked the look of it And I only vaguely like IPB 2

I've got both installed on my laptop (shhh we shouldn't mention that ;))

A phpBB is more than capable of housing a large and active database, and since its open source there are thousands of hacks available
