-you proved my 'has been' point DEAD ON ...
most people drink before they're 21, suprise there, and many politicians think its an olden law anyway
most people smoke weed ... suprise there again
most people lose their virginity rather early ... and have sex often ... safely ... with different partners ... unless theyre fuckin ugly ....
and actually, driving fast does make me cool, because i do it safely, i do it well, at one point i got $ for it, and it sure as hell seems to attract the opposite sex(the REASON behind being 'cool')
just because YOU and everyone YOU know does something does not mean MOST.
AND just because SOME people do those things, still doesn't make it right or legal or MORAL. and so you make money at driving fast. yeah, that's sooooo cool, didn't you just have a friend die from driving too fast??? and when i think someone is right, i'll tell them. i just don't think you are.
not trying to jump into this or anything, but usually dealing in the stock market is kind of like going to a casino, there ARE risks, anyone basing their stock funds on retirement probably should use this as a wake up call. I noticed alot of posts with concerns to people doing as such. But most people 9 times out of 10 who deal in stocks toward retirement make enough in another stock, or some other way for security reasons alone. I guess K-mart is really going to be screwed now, seing how they haven't had a chance to really rebound from their downsizing and all. It will will be interesting to see how they react to this, seeing how they are a major seller of her merchandice. This should tell everyone, no stock is safe. It never really has.

first off, let me say welcome to 2004. i dont know about back-water american, and to be honest, i dont really care, but overall around 'these parts' people are a lil sick and tired of conformity and always doing the MORALLY or legally right thing. that doesnt make it RIGHT, that makes it the norm.
yes, i did have a friend die in a high speed freak accident, but as adrenaline junkies and 'racers' thats what we accept. i will not continue this topic as most people simply do not understand.
its not just me M, its everyone thats different then u that u pick on, mostly me and V. and since we are in the stock market thread ... u think i'm worng with what i said about insider trading? u cant be serious.
I don't understand all about the stock exchange either, but I do understand that the SEC has a system of rules and regulations that are in place to keep a very small group of people from controlling the "market" thru the premature buying and selling of huge chunks of stocks, which in turn would create false market value to the involved shares / companies.
Since this countries economy is based on these market values it would be like building a house of cards.
One wrong movement and the whole thing comes crashing down.
Anyone being given "inside" information that allows them to unfairly sell off stock prior to general public knowledge of bankruptcy, or sale to someone else, or hostile take-over, or anything else that could/would affect the value of that stock,is in essence influencing the future value and activity of that stock.
This is true of anyone wh commits this type of trading but is more onviously affectual with a large amount of stock.
I had a long convo about this with my brother last night (he's the reeally smart one ) Anyway, he pretty much explained to me, well, basically what C-Dub and Sholix have said. I DO understand that. "Inside" info that gives one an unfair advantage SHOULD be illegal- its like someone telling you that a certain horse at the Derby was going to win... betting on that horse gives you an advantage, and then you win- UNFAIRLY. While the information is useful, and you are "only going by the tip..." you KNOW its unfair, and you still do it. That makes it wrong, makes you a cheater..
Also, I understand how it can decrease the value of other's stocks..
I'm sorry, I just felt proud at what I learned. ANd wanted to share it.

so what you're saying is that if EVERYONE jumps off a bridge, even tho you KNOW it's wrong, you're still gonna do it b/c you are tired of standing on the bridge? and you say doing the RIGHT & MORAL thing is conformity? seems to me you're following peer pressure & going down the wrong roads.
please dont contradict yourself about RIGHT and MORAL ... if i remember correctly, and i can go back to quote, you're the one who was saying insider trading isnt wrong because everyone does it anyway.
no, that's NOT what i said. i asked for someone to explain the ins & outs of insider trading b/c i didn't understand exactly why it would be wrong to protect your own assets.
btw, i like the way you avoided the question by trying to redirect back on me. funny & typical

first question: huh?!? ... no matter how many times i read that it makes 0 sense ...
2nd question: RIGHT and MORAL is conformity(in the eyes of youth), which is why a lot of kids today do things simply to break the law or what theyre parents TELL them to do
no, that's NOT what i said. i asked for someone to explain the ins & outs of insider trading b/c i didn't understand exactly why it would be wrong to protect your own assets.
yeeeaaaaa .... THATS what ya said ...
unfair advantages? you know what that happens ALL the time in every aspect of life. just a fact of life.
sure seems like you deem it to be ok. BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE CHEATS....
sure seems like you deem it to be ok. BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE CHEATS....
you are twising what i said. i didn't say it was right nor did i endorse it. i simply stated that "unfair" advantages are a fact of life. is it wrong that some people can afford college b/c their families have money and others can't? no, its not. but some would see that as an "unfair advantage"
