btw, why is insider trading illegal? do people have no right to protect their own assets?  she found out the stock was gonna drop, she sold hers (i see NO problem with this).
:? are u serious?

the US economy is based on TRUST. lets face it, we GIVE a $20 bill the value of $20 because we believe its worth that. same with the stock market. it must be a level playing field. would you u get into a game if the other team ALWAYS won?(always) no! would u risk your money if u knew you'd lose it? only if you have nothing to do with it and burning has gotten boring ...

if its not a level playing field = no one would trade
no one trades = companies dont have monetary VALUE
companies dont have value = money is worthless
money is worthless = welcome to the stone age

are u catching on now?

there cannot be insider trading because it undermines our trust in the system, thus undermining everything that has to do with our economy

yes, and if insider trading were allowed, only the large shareholders could make money, so as stock prices were falling, or about to fall, on ly certain people privy to that info. could sell and the small time investor, or those with 401ks and pension funds with stock in them would lose big time. That wouldn't be fair. But if you have info. let me know.

ok first off, if there is a single person in the world today who believes the stock market is risk free i'd like to meet them. the ENTIRE idea of stocks & trading is risky. unfair advantages? you know what that happens ALL the time in every aspect of life. just a fact of life.

i didn't say that. i guess i don't understand all the "ins & out" of what defines insider trading. but i don't see why if i know a company is about to go out of business it's a crime for me to sell my stock before it happens.

its not a crime to sell your stock prior to bankrupcy as long as the news of its impending bankrupcy is public, thus equal and fair.

I'll let God49 take care of them. I'm to busy doing other things to bother with such minor affairs like this.
