The voices in my head from space tell me that Ad-aware will not protect you from viruses.

Do you have an anti-virus program?

If not I can tell you where to get it checked online........

but dont talk about the penguins or they'll eat me again

Ad-Aware searches for "spyware" Verti............. thats like stuff that tracks your online use, gives you pop-ups... shit like that.
Its more for advertising and marketing, not really viruses.
But that shit still slows your computer down, so its a good program to have.
Some of what it will find is harmless though.........

some is bad though

You really need an anti-virus program too

Does your PC only start a shut down countdown when you're surfing the web?

So far, yes- each time it has shut down I have been on the internet. It gives no warning- just on one second and then off the next.
I was prettu certain that I had Norton on here, but I don't... I suppose its possible that I uninstalled it when I was cleaning everything out.. but damn- I don't think I would have done that..

So... :dunno:

no.. no box with a countdown. Just BAM- g'bye.

I just click that link?

Okay, so I downloaded the free edition, and it took nearly 20 minutes to scan everything... ended up finding 13 files infected with the trojan virus. Looking at the 'scan report', it 'healed' 8 of those viruses, and the other 5 had to be moved to the 'virus vault' What does that mean? Are they gone??  :dunno:
Anyway, thanks a whole bunch for your help, v0id.
