The Passing of a True American Hero
Welcome back VerT.
How was the "vacation"?
Meri, a peace offering?
As for the wording in my post, ignore that bit about anger and disgust. I was only trying to cover all my bases and show there was no animosity on my part.
And I'm gonna make it to 100+ if for no other reason than to piss off whatever children I have who'll be waiting to divvy up my stuff when I die!

President Reagan was a fairly good prez for a publican. I liked him and his wry wit. It's a sad day when someone dies, and this is the first state funeral for us gen xer's ever. The last one was 30 years ago (according to CNN)
Either donkey or elephant (I've actually become somewhat of a bedwetting donkey, but more on that later) a person elected by the people to be President of the United States of America has passed, and he should be remembered. My hat's off to him.

Remembering the Reagan Years.

Earth is the insane asylum for the universe.
That's what I've been trying to say Ying, thanks for making it clear. Whether you are Democrat or Republican and whether you liked him or not, the man DID serve as President of the US for 8 yrs. And this sort of thing doesn't happen every day (or every year or even every 10 yrs). The last American President to die was Richard Nixon in 1994 and he resigned in disgrace and certainly did not deserve (or get) a state funeral. Before that, the last one to die was L.B.J. in 1973, that was the year I was born so I certainly don't remember the event. This is a historical moment. Not one you're likely to see again soon. Granted, Ford & Carter are both getting older, but they are also not in as poor of health as Reagan was.

it was clear from the beginning. He WAS an American hero, and he DID do alot for our country. He WAS a great man, but he was 93. He lived a very long and productive life. Actually, it SHOULDN'T be sad he's passed... THATS what happens when you get OLD. People have been paying their respects to him all week, and I think thats great, but no one should be sad for him. Be sad for Nancy who has had him by her side all this time, and now has to sleep alone.
