very few bars in America serve any good food. It's usually a bowl of peanuts is you are lucky. And you can see all the germs on them from a variety of hands reaching in all day. And you know the bar has no toilet paper in the loo (that's for you brits) so you can imagine how horrible the germs are.
I have heard Europeans complain about that. What no food here? Blimey!

A Tavern might have day-old pizza that "we'd be happy to heat up and serve you. We have a microwave. " Or you could go next door to the restaurant.
