Bit Torrent For Dummies

Post by v0id »

Don't worry using Bit Torrent is a piece of piss.........
It may not be as good as other P2P apps for music........... but if you want movies.......... BT is your bitch............

- Download the Bit Torrent program. It will take about 1 minute to download, and around 15 seconds to install...... plus it won't take hardly any space on your PC, it will just hide away like a sexy little French Maid.... ready to appear when you ask her to service you :P
(If you don't know where to get the BT program from, try PMing a friendly person........... I'm sure they would be more than happy to supply you with the link)

- Search the internet for some good Bit Torrent sites and add them to your favourites.
There are plenty of good link sites, like http://www.btsites.tk/
As well as Torrent search sites http://novasearch.net/
After a while you should figure out where to find the stuff you need.

- To get your file just click on the name of the file you want........... browse where you want to have it saved on your PC.......... and voila..... its downloading.
BT files appear very much like links........ you just click on them once and immediately a box will open up asking you where you want to save the file.

You don't have to read this since you are a dummy but............

- REMEMBER....... you should consider using Peer Guardian, as the RIAA and MPAA are always trying to fuck with us  Once again, if you don't know where to find this program just PM and ask :D
Peer Guardian will basically block any connections to your PC from known IPs that agencies like the RIAA use.

- And also........ ALWAYS leave your download window open after you have finished downloading your file......... this will help others get what you have already got :) Thats all you have to do to help share........ just leave the window open.

- BT basically works on the premise that you click on the file you want and your PC starts downloading from other PCs that already have the file.
The reason it works so well is that you can download parts of the file that users already have, regardless of whether they have finished downloading the whole file yet.
This also works for you........ so people will be downloading from you as soon as you have any part of the file yourself.

- When you begin downloading a file for the first time........ BT will create a file the same size on your PC as the finished download. So basically if you are downloading a 700mb movie....... the file will appear as a 700mb avi file from the moment you start downloading........... this does not mean the movie is there in its entirety.
Use Video-Lan (once again ask where to get it) to preview your film as it downloads.

- Be aware that downloads often start off slowly and sometimes take a while to start at all........ just be patient and it should speed up given time.

I'll add more to this....... when I think of it........ but I need to sleep now

Do you mean you want to share an original file of your own? (create your own torrent) ....... or share the link to the torrent you originally downloaded? Image

I created an iso file of a winXP cd that has the SP1 and the rollup update into the initial install.
so it saves about 40MB of updates, plus lots of time
therefore, the answer is I want to create my own torrent, I guess
