Weird pop-up boxes

Post by Sholix »

Since going back to IE 6.??? I've been having a couple of boxes pop up on my Windows log-on screen.

The first says:
In the title bar, Windows Installer
Inside box dialog is, "Preparing to Install..."

Then a second one comes up saying
Title Bar: Microsoft Outlook 2002
Inside box text: Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Outlook 2002

It then goes into the installation procedure with the litle green progress bar @ the bottom of the box, and finally ends up saying I need to insert the disc or search for the files to complete the installation.

Now the weirdest part is I've already got Outlook installed! I can click open the program any time thru the Programs menu.

How do I stop this from happening?

note to self, stop trying to install outlook on Sholix's computer..
"This way for the lost city,
This way for the lost people,
This way for eternal suffering,
All hope abandon, ye who enter here...

I doesn't know what caused that
My suspect is that somehow IE7 tied into Outlook somehow and when you uninstalled IE7, now it needs to repair outlook.
I guess you could uninstall Office, then reinstall it

Does this happen every time you log onto your computer?

Yeah.
My first, at least 3rd thought was to just let the darn thing finish, but it asks for a disk for Outlook 2002 which I ain't got! :x

Yep! Happens every time. I have to hit the cancel button 3 times before it takes the hint and gives up.

I think it's asking coz Outlook is the Newsgroup and Calendar program set in my options. I'd change em but don't have other options in the drop-down menus.

I did a REPAIR of Office and everything said it completed fine.
But still the request for 2002 MS Outlook.
It's all very annoying.

BTW: I tried all of the above before running here crying. :?

Going to OSU for the Bowl Game tomorrow and I'll try un-installing and then re-installing Office when I get back.

Both of you were correct. :D
I needed to uninstall Outlook then re-install it. The repair didn't take coz the disk, Beenie Boy sent me has the necessary files so everything is back to normal now. Image

Ta-ta beaucoup to the 2 of ye!
You're both still my HEROs' Image Image
