So it begins

Post by Devlin »

Presumptive House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has made implementing the commission's recommendations one of the centerpieces of her "first 100 hours" legislative agenda, with particular focus on requiring radiation scans of all cargo that arrives by sea.

But wait, she voted AGAINST the recommedations that were submitted by the 9/11 commision..? Now all of the sudden she is for it? My oh my how faces change when they are elected. She even rebuked all anouncements of impeachment ...Wasn't that one of her "promises" that would happen when her party took over the house and senate?

Already backing out of election promises..this is going to be a fun two years. Watching them walk on eggshells concerning Iraq and our security trying to grease their skids for an '08 run..

Here is some more response from Iran and Syria...

Maybe if we rebuke our affiliation with Isreal all together, the Mideast will denounce their terroristic Islamo-facistic ideology..then again...probably not.

Iran, Syria Relieved That Democrats Won

Iran and Syria say that a Democrat-controlled Congress and the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld could relieve the pressure on them, officials from those countries said.

Both Iran and Syria have been under pressure from the U.S. -- Iran, for its refusal to abandon its nuclear program; and Syria for its alleged involvement in the murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The U.S. also has criticized Damascus for hosting the headquarters of Palestinian terrorist organizations and for supporting the insurgency in Iraq.

Washington has accused both countries, which back the Hizballah terrorist organization in Lebanon, of trying to topple the government in Beirut.

Syrian officials said the U.S. midterm elections mark a "significant change," and they view it as an American vote "against the neo-conservative mentality of the current administration."

So let me get this straight, you would rather see Pelosi start impeachment proceedings against the President? As if there would be no grounds to do so??

This is an administration who willfully and repeatedly LIED to the American people regarding the whole Iraq debacle. Plain and simple. And apparently the results of the current elections proved that we as a country have heard enough bullshit and are tired of the way things are going. WE want a change and we got one. Now we are going to see what happens.

I personally hope that there will be many investigation into the "doings" of this entire administration. Rumsfeld conviently took himself out of the picture and now cannot be investigated. Next hopefully will be that rat Channey.

Lets all just keep an eye out for what kind of money each and everyone of them, including the President, make once they are out of office. Lets see what kind of returns they make off this war. How much money Channey is gonna get out of Haliburton. Anyone ever heard of war profiteering? There have been allegations of war profiteering in Iraq since 2004! I hope we heard more about it because there is SO MUCH of it going on that is kept under raps it is sickening.

How come we keep going back to the original argument of WMDs that George Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? This is a charge that has been repeated ad nauseum by opponents of the war, but the claim that Bush "lied" about stockpiles of WMDs doesn't hold up to the least bit of scrutiny.

Once you understand one crucial fact, that numerous prominent Democrats with access to intelligence data also openly declared and obviously believed that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, it becomes nearly impossible for a rational person to believe that Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq. We're not talking about small fry or just proponents of the war either. The aforementioned Democrats include Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, John Edwards, Robert Byrd, Henry Waxman, Tom Daschle, and Nancy Pelosi among many, many others. Just to hammer the point home, here's a quote from the 800 pound gorilla of the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton, that was made on Oct 8, 2002:

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security."

To believe that George Bush lied about WMDs is to believe that there is a vast conspiracy to lie about WMDs that goes to the highest level of both parties & that stretches across both the pro and anti-war movements.

It's just not possible.. and that's before we even consider the numerous other pieces of exculpating evidence like: all the non-American intelligence agencies that also believed Saddam had WMDs, CIA Director George Tenet famously saying it was a "'slam-dunk' that Hussein possessed the banned weapons", the once secret Downing Street Memo which certainly proves that our allies in Britain believed Saddam had WMDs...
"For instance, what were the consequences, if Saddam used WMD on day one, or if Baghdad did not collapse and urban warfighting began? You said that Saddam could also use his WMD on Kuwait. Or on Israel, added the Defence Secretary."

...and of course, that we did find warheads designed to carry chemical warfare agents and artillery shells filled with mustard gas & sarin (even though they were small in number and weren't recently made).

When you add it all up, it appears that George Bush, like a lot of other people, was wrong about Saddam Hussein having stockpiles of WMDs. But without question, he did not lie about it.

The focus does keep changing because the face of war and tactics keep changing. When is it in history that we left a country without re-building or maintaining a force there, other than Vietnam? Even in WWII during the re-build we were still losing troops.

As formentioned, yes we had a job to do, we did that job. However, the only fault made by this administration is that they cater to the anti-war crowd to a point where our boys are getting "popped" as you put it because of our hands are tied to the Rules of engagement that have been put on us.

Your right about one thing, the war in Iraq is a turd. A turd created by the anti-war crowd, and the groups like the ACLU and God help us all, the "God hates fags" group who are way over the extreme in their anti-war protests.

And since when did war never come with a price?

C'mon now....do you honestly believe all that???

As for "well you guys saw the intelligent reports too" line, several Democrats disputed Bush's remarks, saying that Congress was not shown all the prewar intelligence the White House had collected regarding Iraq's potential weapons of mass destruction.

The Bush administration admitted in May of 2003 that Saddam had no WMDs and have admitted that they would be amazed if WMDs were found in Iraq. According to administration sources, Saddam shut down and destroyed large parts of his WMD programs before the invasion of Iraq.

So you still going to tell me the imminent threat of WMDs from the administration was not contrived in any way. Not forced upon us? That their "terror"/"freedom" credo was not self-serving? They rammed that shit down our throats and did nothing but induce fear. Now that place is a hot-bed of terrorists.

You talk of rebuilding....and mention Vietnam...another debacle...and make it seem like since we went in there and blew the place up, for apparently no good reason, we should stick around and fix the place up. Now it is a total shit hole, the majority of the country STILL has no electricity or drinkable running water and this is after more than 2 years of occupation! That place is nothing but a mess and men (boys) and women are DYING over there. Perhaps you think that is a worthy cause. Most of us don't think so anymore.

Bush is going to go down in history as a disgrace and leave office just like Nixon.

If you still believe that we went on Bush lie, then there is no way I can convince you otherwise. The information has been laid out, and we went in not only on information provided by us, but british information as well..

Either way, the office of "cut and run" is in power and the sickening feeling of us speaking fluent farsi as a primary language and praying to allah just to safe our heads from being lopped off within the next 10 yrs is now inevitable.

I think what Devlin is trying to say, Cinnagirl, is that not only did Bush and his cronies lie to the public, but many faces in the Democratic party were in on that lie to the public.
Either that, or Saddam is indeed one slick devil

I am not saying we went in on a lie...we went in on misimformation on the intellegence on a world wide scale.

the dems were voted in on hopes of results...not on "cut and run" and revenge for dems removal in 94 after a culture of corruption.

Why do you think the majority of dems elected have conservative values?

If Pelosi, Reid and Murtha who by the way are extreme leftwing liberals and are products from the "culture of corruption" are the best the Dems have, then we as Americans are truly in trouble based on the recent actions made by these three.

Their cut and run policies will take force

The minimum wage increase will only be paid back in higher taxes.

The fence between US and Mexico is no longer going to be stood up..

Amnesty for illegals are back on the table.

All that is left is impeachment, in which Waxman has already made clear his initiative by commencing investigations.

The Democrats for years have claimed Iraq to be another Vietnam. There actions are only going to make that inevitable. I just find it odd, those who will be ultimately responsible for our cut and run are Vietnam vets.

This was not what America voted them in for. They voted for another direction...Not in the form of retreat.
